Come Rete No War e Statunitensi per la pace chiediamo a chi è contro la guerra Nato in Libia di scrivere ai membri non belligeranti del Consiglio di Sicurezza (come vedi nella lista ci sono molti e poi India., Brasile ecc) per appoggiare i loro sforzi negoziali e perché non permettano più che la risoluzione 1973 sia strumentalizzata.
Come vedete nell'introduzione la provocazione è che dei cittadini
occidentali si devono rivolgere a paesi terzi (del resto abbiamo visto nelle guerre precedenti come non sia servito l'appello delle masse ai nostri governi...). Una campagna massiccia di email servirebbe adare a uesti paesi una giustificazione in più (della serie: vedete, paesi Nato, i vostri cittadini non vogliono questa guerra).

INTRODUZIONE. Alcuni paesi della Nato, con
l’alleanza di alcune petromonarchie del Golfo, stanno conducendo da tre mesi in Libia una guerra illegale a sostegno di una delle due fazioni armate che si affrontano; una guerra fondata su informazioni false, portata pervicacemente avanti con vittime dirette e indirette; una guerra che continua malgrado le tante occasioni negoziali disponibili fin dall’inizio.

Che fare? La pressione popolare nei confronti dei paesi Nato è certo necessaria, ma di scarsa efficacia, a giudicare dall’esito delle mobilitazioni pacifiste (talvolta oceaniche) in occasione delle quattro precedenti guerre a cui dal 1991 ha partecipato o aderito anche l’Italia. Potrebbe invece essere utile, se attuata in massa, una campagna di email dirette a paesi non belligeranti e membri del Consiglio di Sicurezza dell’Onu, chiedendo loro di agire. Molti di quei paesi hanno già manifestato volontà negoziali e vanno incoraggiati.
Potrebbero utilizzare come strumento di pressione questo appoggio popolare da parte di cittadini di paesi Nato. Già agli inizi di marzo, Fidel Castro ha chiesto – invano- ai popoli e ai governi di appoggiare la proposta di mediazione del Venezuela, approvata dai paesi dell’Alleanza Alba.
Per questa ragione i gruppi Rete No War e U.S. Citizens for Peace & Justice-Rome hanno consegnato un analogo appello ad alcune ambasciate a Roma.
Ecco come partecipare alla campagna, semplicemente, con una email. Basta inoltre il testo seguente (in inglese) nel corpo del messaggio alle email (vedi elenco seguente) di: Russia, Cina, India, Sudafrica, Nigeria, Gabon, Bosnia Erzegovina, Libano, Colombia, Portogallo, Germania.

WE APPEAL TO NON-BELLIGERENT MEMBERS
OF THE U.N. SECURITY COUNCIL
- to put an end to the misuse of U.N. Security Council Resolution 1973 to influence the internal
affairs of Libya through warfare, by revoking it, and
- to press for a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Libya , backing the African
Union’s central role in this context.
We thank those countries that have tried, and are still trying, to work towards peace.
Our appeal is based on the following:
- the military intervention in Libya undertaken by some NATO members
has now gone far beyond the provisions of Security Council Resolution 1973, and is based on hyped-up accounts of defenseless citizens being massacred by their government, while the truth is that, in Libya, there is an on-going and intense internal armed conflict;
- we are aware of the economic and geo-strategic interests that lie behind the war in Libya and,
in particular, behind NATO support of one of the two armed factions;
- NATO military intervention in Libya has killed (and is continuing to kill) countless civilians, as well harming and endangering the civilian population, including migrants and refugees, in various other ways;
- the belief, at this stage, only non-belligerent countries – and particularly those with U.N. Security Council voting rights – can successfully bring a peaceful end to the conflict through negotiations and by implementing the opening paragraph of UNSC Resolution 1973, which calls for an immediate ceasefire.
